Sacraments

The seven sacraments are special moments when we meet God and experience His love and grace. Through them, we are welcomed into the life of the Church, strengthened in faith, and called to live as followers of Christ.

  • The Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist — begin our journey of faith and welcome us fully into the Christian community.
  • The Sacraments of Healing — Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick — bring us God’s mercy, comfort, and peace.
  • The Sacraments of Service — Marriage and Holy Orders — call us to share our gifts in loving service to others and to the Church.

Each sacrament marks an important step in our relationship with God and with one another. Details about how each sacrament is celebrated in our parish are shared in the weekly newsletter and on this website. You are always welcome to contact the parish office for more information.

Baptism

Baptism is the first step in our journey of faith and marks our welcome into the Christian community.

Details of when baptisms take place are published in our parish newsletter and on our website.

For more information, please contact the parish office.

Confirmation

Confirmation celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit and completes our initiation into the Church.

It is celebrated annually in our parish. The children of Sixth Class who wish to be confirmed take part in a parish preparation programme.

Details of the programme and ceremony dates are published in the autumn each year.

Eucarist (Holy Communion)

In the Eucharist, we receive Jesus in Holy Communion and are nourished by his presence among us.

First Holy Communion is usually celebrated during the month of May.

The preparation programme invites families to take an active part in parish life and liturgy in the months leading up to the celebration.

Reconcilation (Confession/Penance)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) offers us God’s mercy and peace. Confession times are published in our parish newsletter or can be arranged by appointment.

All are welcome to experience the healing and forgiveness of God’s love.

Sacrament of the Sick

This sacrament brings strength, peace, and courage to those who are ill or elderly. It is celebrated in our parish on special occasions and is also available to the housebound, in nursing homes, and in hospitals.

If you or someone you care for would like to receive the sacrament, please contact the parish office.

Matrimony (Marriage)

Marriage celebrates the love and lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, blessed by God in the presence of the Church. Couples wishing to marry in our parish are invited to contact the parish office to begin the arrangements.

Priesthood (Holy Orders)

Through Holy Orders, men are ordained to serve as deacons, priests, or bishops in the Church.

If you would like to learn more about a vocation to priesthood or religious life, please get in touch with the parish office, who can connect you with the Diocesan Vocations Director.
